PDF to JPG

Save the pages of a PDF as JPG images. Choose which pages and how sharp, then download one image or all of them at once.

Choosing a DPI

DPI decides how many pixels each page gets. Higher looks sharper when you zoom in, but the images are larger. The slider runs from 96 to 200 and starts at 144. For an A4 page, that works out as:

DPIA4 page in pixelsGood for
96794 × 1123Previews, thumbnails, chat messages
144 (default)1191 × 1684Slides, social posts, reading on a phone
2001654 × 2339Small print, diagrams, zooming in on detail

US Letter pages come out slightly wider and shorter than A4 at the same DPI.

Converting more than one page

The range control converts consecutive pages, up to 100 per run. For a longer document, do pages 1 to 100, download the ZIP, then run 101 to 200. Files are numbered by their page in the original PDF, so the batches sort correctly in a folder.

JPG or PNG for this PDF?

JPG keeps files small and is ideal for pages that are mostly photos. For pages of plain text, tables or line drawings, PNG gives cleaner edges and is often not much bigger. Use PDF to PNG for those. The quality slider here starts at 92 percent; lowering it to around 80 makes files smaller with little visible change.

Pages, not the pictures inside them

This tool takes a snapshot of each whole page, including its text, margins and layout. It does not pull out the original photos embedded in the PDF at their full resolution. If you need a photo from a document at print quality, ask the sender for the original image, or render the page at 200 DPI and crop it.

Questions

Can I get the images back into a PDF later?

Yes, with JPG to PDF. Bear in mind the text will no longer be selectable, since it is now part of the pictures.

The PDF is password protected.

Pages may render blank if the file is encrypted. Open it in your PDF reader with the password, save an unprotected copy, and convert that.
