Free QR / barcode generators compared (privacy and formats)
Static vs dynamic tracked QR, WiFi and vCard, plus Code 128, EAN, UPC, and ITF-14 depth—how Mewix compares to generic free generators.

A free QR code generator is easy to find. A free barcode generator that also covers WiFi, vCard, Code 128, and carton barcodes—with clear privacy—is rarer. Here is how Mewix compares to typical “generate and download” sites.
Criteria table
| Criteria | Mewix | Typical free QR sites |
|---|---|---|
| QR types | URL, WiFi, vCard, email, SMS, phone, geo, and more | Often URL-first |
| Dynamic / tracked QR | No (static only) | Many upsell dynamic + analytics |
| Barcodes | Code 128, EAN, UPC, ITF-14, Code 39, Codabar, … | Spotty; many QR-only |
| Privacy | Generate in browser | Often server-side + marketing email |
| Formats | PNG / SVG / PDF depending on tool | Varies |
| Best for | Static private codes & retail barcodes | Tracked campaigns & short links |
Static vs dynamic QR
Dynamic / tracked QR services rewrite the payload so they can count scans and edit the destination later. Useful for campaigns—less useful for a café WiFi sticker that should never phone home.
Mewix generates static codes. What you encode is what the scanner reads. There is no scan analytics dashboard. That is intentional: guests scan a WiFi QR without a tracking middleman.
Format depth that matters
Generic sites stop at a URL QR. Teams shipping labels need:
- Code 128 for logistics and inventory — generator
- EAN-13 / UPC-A for retail
- ITF-14 for outer cartons — ITF-14 tool
Mewix’s QR & barcode hub groups these so you are not hunting five different sites.
Fair limits
Mewix does not offer dynamic QR tracking, paid short-link redirects, or enterprise campaign analytics. If that is the brief, use a tracking platform. If you need a private wifi qr code generator or a solid code 128 label, stay in the browser.
Bottom line
Tracking platforms win on analytics. Mewix wins on static privacy plus barcode type depth.
